Genealogy and Ancestry - let’s start!
Welcome!
After spending many years tracing my roots, I have accumulated a decent body of knowledge on the topic of finding and tracing people, often extending searches to other countries. Fortunately, there are many genealogy books to help someone get started.
My current activity has been collecting the names and addresses of thousands of Romanyk’s world wide and of creating the Romanyk Family Tree.
- Background: The Romanyk name is Ukrainian in origin and means “Roman like”. Most Romanyk’s live in Europe, about 500 live in Canada and about 100 live in the United States.
- Family name variations include Romanec, Romanek, Romanic, Romaneck, Romanich, Romaniec, Romaniuc, Romaniuk, Romanuck, Romanych, Romanyuk and Romanetz.
Addionally, I have helped locate about 200 of my fellow classmates for our 40th reunion. Compared to tracking people in Europe, this was easy. The United States has very accessible individual records. A surprising amount is available over the internet. And when the internet fails, there are the state and city records offices that are readily accessible via mail or phone.
I would like to share my knowledge with others of similar interest.
Regards,
Alex
