This Tory family split before the Revolution with two sons and two daughters, settling in West Florida near Natchez (Mississippi). Descendents of Gideon Hopkins settled in Oklahoma Territory and have spread throughout the Midwest.
James Hopkins remained in New Jersey where two lines still persist. Other descendents of James are found in Pennsylvania today.
